Become part of the Hertie Summit 2021: Submit your proposals!
The Hertie Summit in Berlin is a platform for exchange on current socio-political and science policy issues that brings together fellows, the Hertie foundation’s staff and other experts. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summit did not take place last summer. For 2021, we are planning a combination of digital and decentralised live events from 3 to 4 June 2021 in Berlin.
We are looking forward to your proposals! The closing date for submissions is 18 January 2021.
Below you will find the registration form for your contributions.
The Hertie Summit 2021 will take place from Thursday afternoon (Corpus Christi, 3 June 2021) to Friday evening (4 June 2021). On the first day, you will have the opportunity to get in touch with political actors from the German Bundestag, the Federal Chancellery, and various ministries, embassies and other authorities. As per usual, the themes for the second day will be more open and all slots will be devoted to the topics you wish to discuss. Please see the chart below for the available slots.
In addition, there will be two central networking opportunities: On Thursday, you will be able to invite your political guests on a boat trip on the river Spree in Berlin Mitte beginning at 6:00 pm to continue the discussion you had in the afternoon in a more relaxed atmosphere. On Friday, we will round off the Summit with a garden party at the Harnack Haus in Berlin-Dahlem. Of course, we will closely follow and adhere to the pandemic regulations in force at that time. If you have any questions, please contact Sebastian Heunemann (event management) and Anna Delius ( fellows & friends )
Many things have changed since last year, including the Summit: Next year, it will take place both digitally and at various decentralised locations in Berlin, similar to a Science Week or a small festival. The different venues are intended to reflect the diversity of the fellows and contributions. The summer party, however, will be celebrated as usual in the garden of the Harnack House in Berlin-Dahlem.
Proposals can be submitted in English or German.
The Summit thrives on the contributions of both fellows and staff. You can plan, design and implement your proposal together with other fellows and experts. If you are planning a hybrid or live event, please organise a venue in Berlin (if possible, based on the event’s theme). Our organisers will offer you advice and support if needed. There are no limits to your topics and interests – the Summit is a place of intellectual inspiration and exchange.
Shortly before the deadlines for the submission of your proposals, we will offer online consultation sessions in which the organisers of the Summit will answer your questions. Of course, we will keep an eye on the development of the pandemic regulations and keep you informed.
You can submit your entries until 18 January 2021. We will then get in touch with you in mid-February. Should your proposal be successful, we will need a more detailed implementation plan by mid-March 2021. You will receive further information from us on this in due course. The website for the Hertie Summit 2021 will go online in mid-March 2021, where you will find the different events with their titles and speakers.__________________________________________________________________________________
