We are excited to announce the launch of the new Network on Health and Governance.

The COVID-19 pandemic has subjected the global community’s healthcare systems to a stress test. Can national healthcare systems accommodate the surge of patients infected by the coronavirus? Can they simultaneously cater to the healthcare needs of existing patients? More broadly, how can health governance respond to demographic change and increasing non-communicable disease, against a background of finite (public) finances and rising treatment costs? Solutions to these pressing collective action problems can only be worked out through democratic dialogue, knowledge-sharing and a commitment to good governance.

We warmly invite all Hertie fellows, alumni, professionals and students with a professional interest in health, governance and neurosciences to join us in this exciting new endeavour. Our goal is to strengthen democracy by establishing a forum to identify and address current and future policy challenges in the health sector, as well as deepen structural ties between the Hertie Foundation, its fellows, national health care systems, civil society and industry.

Our first kick-off meeting will take place on Thursday, 29 October from 18:30 to 20:00 CET. A zoom link will be sent to you after registration. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lisa Gow or Minhaz Morshed.

We are delighted to welcome the following speakers, who will be sharing their insights from the field:

Katri Bertram (MPP 2007), Founding Partner of Partners for Impact, a consultancy specialising in global public health and development.
Hannes Klöpper (MPP 2008): Founder and CEO of HelloBetter, a digital platform for mental health care.
Benjamin Snow (MPP 2015): Senior Venture Developer at FoundersLane, a corporate venture builder with a focus on digital health.

We look forward to seeing you!

Lisa and Minhaz
